Alot of you know me as I have been fighting the system for 15 Years: I am asking you to please help us in our fight now. Amber deserves to come home & without this reduction in sentencing she may not make it home in our life time. We humbley ask for your help. For 15 years she has worked on her education gaining her GED,She has almost completed a AA in Social and behavioral Science, as well as a Certificate in Business. She currently is training dogs for the Mentally and physically disabled through the Little Angels Service Dogs Program, & is starting this week to Mentor At Risk Youth from the new Youth Diversion Program. She wants to make a difference in their lives & her own. My name is Amber R. Riley and I was arrested for murder at age 16. It has been 15 years. I was tried as an adult and sentenced to 26-Life. I had never been in trouble prior to this, my parents were not allowed to speak to me or be with me at time of interrogation , everything I said was twisted & feared my Co-Defendant. I have a good report with staff and my peers here. I have spent the past 15 years of incarceration participating in numerous self-help programs, and working on my education. I have earned a GED and have almost completed a AA degree in Social and Behavioral Studies as well as a Certificate in Business. I am currently helping to train and raise Service dogs for the mentally physically disabled through a program called "Little Angels Service Dogs. I am also a Mentor in the new Youth Diversion Program, working with at risk youth. I will be helping them to make better decisions then I did and hopefully discourage them from committing crimes and coming to prison. I would like to continue working with the At Risk Kids upon my release. I continue to make a living amends on a daily basis for the poor decisions that cost my friend Terry his life. I was impulsive and was susceptible to peer pressure from my adult Co-Defendant. My parents are getting older and my mom is in poor health. It is my sincere hope to have the opportunity to experience life with them before it is to late. I have lost many of my family members since being here. I couldn't be with my Grandma whom I was really close to before she passed. We do not have the finanal abilty to hire legal help so I am asking for your support by writing Governor Brown to consider my Communtation. I have at least 10 more years until I am even considered for parole and the Governor has the ability to change my sentence to what ever he sees fit. I humbly beg of you to help me with letters sent To Governor Brown. Although laws for Juvenile offenders have changed, they are not retroactive and will not help me. This is my only chance for release. Recently the prison submitted my name for possible commutation due to my positive history and good work/program performance here at CCWF.
